Karis and Ross

                                                                                                                          Karis and Ross

This month’s blog features Karis and Ross’ intimate Strawberry Garden ceremony and marquee wedding reception.

The lovely couple planned to have their wedding ceremony in the Palace Ruins but due to the weather forecast the ceremony was moved to The Strawberry Garden.  The beech hedged, canopy covered space is the perfect plan B as couples can still have their ceremony outside but are protected from the elements.  The weather didn’t dampen the spirits of Karis, Ross and their family friends in the least and they still enjoyed their drinks reception in the beautiful Ringrose Room overlooking the Walled Garden.

During the drinks reception, the couple enjoyed some time alone together whilst taking photos inside Ballyscullion Park House.  The house is full of character and creates the most beautiful backdrop for photographs.

The stunning cake was provided by French Village and the gorgeous pastel coloured floral arrangements were by Matt at Bloom Barn.

What made you fall in love with Ballyscullion Park?

We first saw Ballyscullion Park online back in July 2023 and the both of us where excited to book a viewing for August 2023. When we arrived Rosalind made us feel so welcome and when she took us to the walled garden it looked amazing and Ballyscullion looked like it did online. We visited the day after a storm and it was raining a little but we both knew Ballyscullion was going to be our wedding venue. We loved that the venue would be for our wedding and not worry about other weddings going on at the same time. We also loved that we could stay on site in the cottages as well as our family and friends. We were lucky to be able to stay the night before as well which saved so much worry and stress about leaving on time for the wedding and we loved watching our guests arrive.

What was your favourite part of the day?

There were so many favourite parts we loved it from start to finish! Due to the torrential rain we loved that all of our guests could mingle and get to know each other during our wedding reception in The Stables so that by dinner time everyone knew each other and could enjoy their dinner together. We also loved getting some of our photos taken in the house, which is different and that makes our photos so special to us because we along with our photographer and videographer were the only ones who saw the house and we have those memories. The house is soo beautiful it is like walking into Downton Abbey and we feel very privileged to have been allowed to have photos taken in the family home of Rosalind & Richard.

What would be your number one piece of advice / tip that you would give to couples getting married at Ballyscullion Park?

Our biggest piece of advice is that your everything you plan can change before you get married but do not stress or worry about it, you are still going to get married and the team at Ballyscullion Park will help make that happen. This is what happened to us we originally planned to get married in the Palace Ruins but the weather had other ideas and Rosalind and her family were able to give us a plan B and were so reassuring and sorted everything that needed to be changed.

We ended up getting married in The Strawberry Garden so we were still able to get married outside which was important to us and the staff provided umbrellas and blankets for our guests and they made the whole day run smoothly for us. We still had the most special day even though we had to do a complete 180 on our original plans. Just make sure that you enjoy your day because it goes by so quickly! Everyone who said this to me I said okay thanks and brushed it off but they were right! Ross and I can’t believe it’s all done and we are married 3 months now it feels like only yesterday but forever ago at the same time.
