Lauren and David

                                                                                                                        Lauren and David

This month’s blog features Lauren and David’s romantic Strawberry Garden ceremony and marquee wedding reception.  Lauren booked Ballyscullion Park after being recommended the venue by her sister, the Ballymoney Florist Petal Lane.  It is always lovely to know we have been recommended by a wedding supplier because they see an abundance of different venues and therefore it is very flattering when they recommend us in particular.

The Strawberry Garden is such a beautiful location to get married for the simple reason that you are surrounded by an arched beech hedge in the middle of a Walled Garden with a backdrop of roses. Therefore you really need very little to beautify this special area.  The couple used two of our urns as vessels for stunning floral arrangements created by Petal Lane which created a very pretty back drop during the ceremony.

Ionian String Quartet played beautifully during the ceremony as well as the drinks reception.  The couple chose to cut their cake straight after the ceremony so that guests could enjoy a piece with their tea and coffee.  We love this idea and it is one that is increasing in popularity.  It is a great way to keep your guests satisfied until dinner.  This cake was particularly special as it had a little figurine of the couple’s dog Nala adorning it, a really lovely idea.

The Marquee was elegantly decorated with more florals from Petal Lane with the Strawberry Garden urns full of flowers now framing the top table.  There was a sweetie table that always goes down a treat as well as a s’mores table to let guests know that they had roasted fire pit marshmallows to look forward to later in the evening.

What made you fall in love with Ballyscullion Park?

We fell in love with the gorgeous grounds of Ballyscullion park. There was so much space for our guests and we could allow the children to run free without any worries as we had the whole venue to ourselves which was a major plus.

What was your favourite part of the day?

Apart from getting married – The evening at Ballyscullion Park was really special – we got a really lovely sunset to do our golden hour photographs and our guests could relax outside or in the marquee. We were even able to roast marshmallows on the fire pit which was a major hit!

What would be your number one piece of advice / tip that you would give to couples getting married at Ballyscullion Park?

Enjoy every part of the day – the staff at Ballyscullion have everything down to a tee and have it all under control you have no worries!
