Over the last two years we have seen Autumn weddings become increasingly popular at Ballyscullion Park, especially the month of October. There is something quite magical about the changing of the seasons with the trees turning the most magnificent shades of orange, yellow and red, the apple trees are laden with fruit and the autumnal light makes for the most beautiful photographs.

You also get the real impact of the fire pit at this time of year as, since the sun sets earlier, you have more time to spend around the fire with your family and friends and to admire the garden lit up. Providing guests with blankets and a tub full of marshmallows, there is nothing cosier than snuggling up near the fire whilst making s’mores.

Another great addition to the darker nights are sparklers. They are such a cheap addition to your wedding, guests love them and combined with our fabulous outdoor fairy lights, they create some seriously enchanting photographs.

We definitely see far more fireworks at our autumn weddings as the evening are so dark. They create such a great show of celebration for you and your guests and are a great way to mark the end of the evening. We have also had fire dancers, a fantastic way to entertain your family and friends.

Some couples bring autumn vibes to their food by opting to serve their guests deliciously warming pumpkin spiced lattes and chai lattes on arrival and by having pumpkin soup or butternut squash risotto as their starter.

We have seen bouquets full of autumnal hues, especially orange and red roses, and lovely flower crowns in the bridesmaids’ hair. Imagine your bridesmaids’ dresses in a deep plum and your groomsmen with corsages full of sprigs of wheat and berries.
This is also a wonderful time of year to really go all out on your décor. Darker evenings call for twinkling fairy lights strewn across the ceiling of the Marquee and behind the top table. Pinecones, pumpkins, chestnuts and lots of rustic bunting all add to the theme and plenty of candles make a gorgeous finishing touch.
